JHH - Kidney Paired Donation
From SmartLogic Solutions
[edit] Description
SLS has worked with Dr. Dorry Segev and Sommer Gentry on the Kidney Paired Donation (KPD) project at Johns Hopkins Hospital since January 2006. SLS built a simulation framework that allows them to specify arbitrary kidney donation scenarios. The framework provides them with the ability to select population distributions, likelihoods of participation, and a specific matching algorithm, among dozens of other input parameters. The tool has assisted their push for a national kidney donation program. Data gathered from the simulation framework has been presented to UNOS to support their claims that a national program would better benefit all those seeking kidney donations. Learn more about KPD.
[edit] Technologies Used
- Programming Languages: C++
- Source Control: Subversion
- Third-Party Libraries Utilized:
- MPI: used to spread the simulations over 18 processors
- CPLEX: used to run 3-way kidney simulation scenarios
- LEDA: used to run 2-way kidney simulation scenarios and used for the GUI (graphical user interface)
