[edit] Description

  • Reconstructing Florence
Note: in order to access this project you will need to contact us for the password.
This is an interactive map of Florence that was utilized by an Art History professor at Hopkins. His intent was to provide the students with not only an understanding of the art they were studying, but also the spatial distribution of the art across the city of Florence, as well as within the museums themselves. The professor thought this helped give the students an experience more resembling that of actually visiting Florence.
  • Educational Timeline Tool
This tool allows teachers to create educational timelines. A Java program is used to generate an XML configuration file that is used as an input to the Flash program. The XML input format allows the user to specify layout and color information, as well as the data that comprises the actual timeline (text, images, etc.). In the "Community" section, you can see a few examples of timelines that users have created. Note that this is not a complete list of timelines created!

[edit] Awards

The Timeline Creator won first place in the Fall 2003 Innovation Award from Macromedia in the category of Higher Education Academic Computing.
